Apparently I do care….

Yeah X Games, Ian Schwartz made it into the finals in Dubai. He ended up in 9th place right behind Brian Kachinsky. Go over to this ESPN site and see some videos of a bunch of the guys killing it in the street course. There is even a handicap rail on the course, Simpel Session is having a handicap rail this year too. Are handicap rails the next street spine of 2008? We’ll see!

Joe Cox has been a busy man lately. After getting his internet up and running at his house, his computer crapped out on him. Luckily, he was able to get everything back and Tomorrow We Work is still on schedule. Looking like late January for a release. Go over to Defgrip and check out an interview with him about it. You can also check out the 15 minute trailer he did for the video.

Chrome Triumphs are back!

Finally you are going to say! You guys have been wondering where these bars have been, now I have an answer for you. Chrome Triumphs are back in stock and should be available in your local shop within the next 2 weeks! For these Triumphs, we are using a Show chrome as shown in the photos on the left. It has a more chromy feel to it, brighter than the previous chrome. Vinnie bars will be coming in the next few weeks, so look for those too!

Sunday at the X Games?

Yeah really sounds weird, right? Well, Ian Schwartz got invited to the X Games. I know you are thinking, “Are you even allowed near the X Games course if you aren’t doing double tailwhips on every obstacle?” Don’t fret because he only got invited to the Dubai X Games going on right now. The X Games are trying out a “real” street type contest, there was one in Mexico City earlier this year and maybe one coming to the US next year. Not sure if it’s good or bad, I’m leaning towards I could care less.

The first time I looked at this photo of Kurt Rasmusson’s new Sunday Second Wave complete blue kit, I thought of that band Eiffel 65 and their song Blue (Da Ba Dee). The biggest difference between the bike and the song is….? You guessed it, the bike doesn’t suck! Actually the song is more funny then anything just I hate it when it gets stuck in my head.

Mike Taylor’s recovering nicely from knee surgery. Nice enough to have bought the motorcycle he’s sitting on in this photo. Hopefully he’ll be back riding by the beginning of next year.

News Time!

Okay, so I enjoyed Thanksgiving a little to much which is why I haven’t updated the site lately. Here goes, Karl Poynter has an interview over at BMXUnion.com just click the previous interview link on the left and he has also has a Q and A thread on thecomeupbmx.net.

This is a great picture of Ian Schwartz, we’ve all been there. This is from the tail end of an east coast trip we did in the freezing cold around the beginning of November. Up until this point, Ian was staying in New Jersey with Vinnie Sammon and Mike Brennan. He’s currently back home in Ohio looking for a warmer place to be, so chances are you will see him in Texas after the holidays.

I have been so busy lately, one of the things I have been doing is putting this whole in the side of my house. A couple friends helped me put a window in my kitchen or what will become my kitchen. I’ve eaten out pretty much every day for a month and I’m over it, so I need to get this done quick.

The big news around here is that my cat ran away in early November, but she returned last night. Don’t know how she survived the cold, but she was smart coming in last night because it is snowing in Buffalo today!

Stephen Savage on BMXonline!

Steven Savage came from South Africa and visited the US for almost 7 months. While he was here he quickly became a shop favorite, the only person to get stitches from the warehouse, got free health care in the USA and 360ed his way onto BMXonline. So go check out his 360 or almost 360 here. He went back home to Joburg last week which is a smart move because the weather just turned crappy here. Either way we were bummed he couldn’t visit Buffalo before he left.

All sorts of check outs!

Over at Red BMX Magazine, you can see Lee Dennis do a tailwhip up some steps on an original Sunday frame, but also see his complete Second Wave frame bike check with Morning 2.1 and Triumph bars in the new blue. This is an older photo of Lee over icing a roof some where on the Niagara Peninsula.

Check out some photos of Steve Kennedy and Eric Lichtenberger over at Defgrip. Toothpicks and Nosepicks are what there doing at the D’s Giving Fest this weekend which was put on by Give D clothing. Special appearance by Ben Ward.

History lesson!

Currently, I’m on an east coast rain trip. The weather’s been horrible, but I’ve been able to reflect on some things. Yesterday, we rode Avalon in Maryland and I quickly found out that these ramps are from Section 8 in Youngstown, OH. That park goes way back for me, so it was really cool to see this stuff again.

Next, this is a VDC frame that was in the upstairs of Avalon. I couldn’t help, but notice how the old S&M Keith Treanor Menstrual Cycles frame was influenced by this bike. Along with the Kink Empire that I rode for way too many years. Both are shown from left to right. The S&M photo came from bmxmuseum.com.

Then this photo is also from the VDC frame, doesn’t this seat tube junction like very modern? I was blown away because I hadn’t seen one of these frames in person, so to also see a ‘modern’ style junction like this was a bonus. More random info coming later.

New Setups!

Here is Jake Seeley’s new Sunday set up. I’ve known Jake for quite a few years, ever since he was a wee little camper at Woodward. It’s cool to see him grow up, keep riding and doing smith grinds to icepick to 180 at the Brooklyn Banks the other day. Jake also rides for The Garden in Pittsfield, MA. Here is the photo I took at the Banks the other day.

Josh Betley got his brand new Sunday frame checked out on Vital BMX. This is a video checkout, so go here and enjoy Josh talking about it. Also, you can check out some other videos that he has on the Vital site.

Bits of News for you!

We’ve been really busy as of late, hence why the lack of updates. White Morning 2 forks and Triumph bars are now available or will be available later this week along with a few white Wave frames too. Check out Beloe’s Brian Osborne’s white Wave frame all built up on the right.

What we’ve been up to is making money! No not really, but Karl Poynter did win this pile of $1 dollar bills, 500 to be exact, at the Red Bull contest in Asbury Park, NJ this weekend. Karl along with Team Knuckle Sandwich took third while myself in Team Electronical got fourth.

Lee Dennis got to build up a 21 inch Second Wave Sunday frame along with Morning 2.1 forks and Triumph bars. Looks really good to me. Lee recently went down south and rode over a giant baseball.

Eric Lichtenberger who is on the latest cover of Ride US, just had an Up and Coming article on BMXonline, so go check that out right here. Everyone that talks to me about Eric tells the same story, how casual and nonchalant he does the scariest things like the UCI rail ride.

Ian’s bike on BMXonline!

Okay, Ian Schwartz’s frame was described in the previous update, so go down there and check out Ian’s frame in detail. Then from there go to BMXonline and see his complete ride and some close up photos that Jeff Z shot. Ian’s been staying in New Jersey for awhile now, so I think all these photos were taken there recently.

Ian Schwartz frame!

Here you go, Ian Schwartz’s Sunday frame which is going to be available sometime this coming early next year. Ian’s frame is exactly the same as the upcoming Second Wave frame, but Ian wanted to have a Pivotal Post welded on. Prior to this frame he took off his seat post clamp and JB Welded a post in. Then he shaved down the seat tube to make it look smooth.

Each graphic is a die cut sticker with a hand drawn sharpie look done by Ian himself. The downtube has different graphics on each side while the headtube has a pair of bars as a lure for the fish on the downtube. The graphics are very unique and were a hit at Interbike this year.

Let me just answer all the questions I’ll be asked in the comments. The rear end is not any shorter than any previous Sunday frame. The headtube angle is 74.5 not 75. It will be offered in White and Black Magic. Even though I already said it above, the frame is exactly the same as the Second Wave frame just with a Pivotal Post welded on. The height of the post is about an inch from the top tube. We will not be able to do custom frames. The sizes available are 20.5, 20.75 and 21 with mountless options being available first thing. There will be white Triumphs and Morning 2.1 forks available for the Ian kit. Oh and shaved headtubes are NOT going to be available on these, we are still testing them. Okay if I didn’t answer your question just write it in the comments and I’ll answer it.

Josh Betley and My Headache!

Josh Betley
from Arizona is a shredder, go check out him on Vital and BMXonline. Sunday just hooked him up with a Sunday Second wave frame. You can see his complete bike checkout along with a few more photo at Databmx. Also, here is an interview with him again on BMXonline.

Here are two photos of my OTB incident yesterday. Didn’t get my hands out and you should’ve see all the blood pouring out. The hospital visit was so short, I couldn’t believe it! Twelve stiches in all, 5 inside and 7 out, and I was on my way home to watch the Sabres get dumped on in the 3rd period. I’m going to make this apart of my Halloween costume somehow.
