Guess What?

Sunday frames are in at Blackout! So they are available today!

Shook return!

Sunday is excited to hear that Shook is returning back to the BMX world and even more excited to say that you can see Karl Poynter’s bio in the newest one which will be available in the next few weeks!

News Update!

Let me start with the frames, although it has taken a little bit, the Sunday frame is going to available at you local shop or mailorder between May 30-June 2. Be careful, I think they are going to go quickly, most of the mailorders are having prebooks, so be warned.

There has been some concern about the minimum price of the Sunday frame. As well as the pricing of a Taiwanesse frame vs an American frame. Take a high-end Taiwan frame at $290 dollars and add forged hollow dropouts, post-weld BB and HT machining, specialty paint, rust-proofing, no visible exterior vent holes and 41-Thermal processing. The price has to go up to reflect these changes. In this case it has increased by approximately 40 dollars. At $330 dollars, these features are a bargain.

Now do the same thing to a $320 dollar US frame. Add the forged hollow dropouts, post-weld BB and HT machining, specialty paint, rust-proofing, no visible exterior vent holes and 41-Thermal processing. The price will increase substanitally. My guess is that it will have a final minimum price of $390 dollars or higher.

Team News
First, Karl Poynter got 2nd place at the recent Baco Jam in Wisconsin. He sounded surprised all his tricks worked, he also used his luck to get out of a speeding ticket on the way home. So congradulations go to him, who would have thought we would have a contest rider on the Sunday team?

Dominik Wrobel from Germany and of WoozyBMX fame, has an interview on Defgrip. So check that out!

Speaking of Germany, our distributor over there, Sport Import, is sponsoring the first major contest of the summer called Highway2Hill. It is being held at Mellowpark, I believe this is the same place that they had the Rebel Jam last year.

I did a little interview thing for Databmx from France. It is cool because it is in 2 languages, but no I do not know French.

More news later!

New Shirts!

Since, I have been way too busy doing just about everything else with Sunday, there hasn’t been any new shirts until now. The first is “Sunday Best” which is the one with the tie. Next, “Fine Print” takes the exclamation point and makes it not as loud. Third, “Exclaimer” takes Sunday’s adopted symbol and well makes it louder. Lastly, is the return of the “Yell!” shirt, but his time it is in White with blue print. These should all be available really soon.

Frame Feature:
Angled Cable Guide and Brake Mounts!

One of the main ideas behind Sunday is to listen to what riders are demanding and this idea has been demanded for a long time. Both the cable guide and the brake mounts are angled to provide a straighter cable route which allows for better braking. The angles created by a lot of frames and certain brakes does not allow for the best braking potential. Even if your brakes have angles built in them, there still is an angle thus the loss of braking power. This is all very ironic because most of the team doesn’t ride brakes and I have been getting demands for brake mountless frames! Soon to come?

Overview of the angles on the cable guide and brake mounts. There are slight angles in the alignment, but imagine if traditional brake mounts and cable guides were used? Then there would be drastic angles in the alignment instead of the slight ones here.

Closeup of the angled cable guide. There is still enough room to have the barrel adjuster all the way out without interference from the top tube.

Closeup of angled brake mounts. It is difficult to really see how much the angle is, but note the distance to the seat stay between either end of the brakes.

Team Update and other news 5/4/06

First, let’s start with some product news. THE FRAMES WILL BE OUT IN THE US BETWEEN MAY 20TH AND 26TH! Just wanted to emphsize this. In other news, Padded Cell has become the new distributor for Sunday in the UK. So if your shop doesn’t have Sunday, tell them Padded Cell has it.

While it has been awhile since our last team up date, so let’s get started.

Vinnie Sammon is presently on the Red Bull Mean Streets 2 in California, teaming up with Edwin De Larosa from last year’s.

Ian Schwartz broke his wrist in New York City while on a trip with the guys from Dan’s Comp. Roller coaster grind gone way wrong, I think he is down to 5 weeks to go. Hopefully his electro-shock therapy gagetry thing that he uses to help heal his wrist doesn’t keep him up at night.

Eli holding Jeff Z’s focus card in Decatur Georgia, while Karl fakie hops to safety in the same county.

Eli Platt after doing a tailwhip down the big 4 in Atlanta is finishing up his final(?) quarter of college.

Speaking of finishing up school, Karl Poynter is doing the same thing, but with high school.

Mike Hoder got a job washing semi trucks on the other side of the state of Washington. This doesn’t sound too crazy, but when he commutes 5 hours to work it is. Luckily he only does it every so often. Will Mike have front brakes on his bike soon? Will he do the biggest 360 ever real soon, just maybe.

Jim Cielencki finished up the shop’s first video Hey Man Woo! Now if we can just get it out that would be awesome. The video’s release can only be blamed on the Buffalo Sabres, the more they play then the more it is delayed. The Sabres vs Senators should be good!!!!

In the UK, some rumors have been flying about Joe Cox riding for someone else, but the rumors got it mixed up because his brother got picked up. Mike Taylor won best trick at the most recent Battle Royale in Liverpool by doing a feeble to barspin on a round rail. Check out DFTU to see some photos. I think the next one is in Glasgow.

Christian Ziegler sent some photos of him from Germany along with an Morning Fork ad he is in. The photos are shot by Christoph Ebsen. He is getting married on May 12th, so congradulations to him and his new wife.
