That’s correct Kurt Rasmusson has been nominated for the NORA Cup Video Part of the Year for his very memorable section in Left/Right. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see that video yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. Congrats Kurt and good luck!
2007 NORA Cup Video Part Nominee!
Sunday Warehouse video
Web videos seem like a dime a dozen these days. Mediocre videos, poor quality and poor filming are the norm on youtube and myspace, so why not here too. This is Sunday’s contribution to the world of videos and tricks that will be completely forgotten 10 minutes after you watch them. I’m a little jaded on the straight to web videos, I just long for the days of sitting in front of a tv rewinding a VCR tape over and over again. Look for more web footage soon, oh and maybe a real video too!
Oh I guess I should tell you what’s going on in this one. Ian Schwartz and Steven Savage were in town for a few days while Lee Dennis, Greg Henry and some other Canadians came down to ride the Sunday warehouse.
Quick update!
First things first, Karl Poynter has interview over on woozybmx. You can learn his middle name, see him jump way over a fire hydrant and be flipped off by his t-shirt, all in one interview! Some other tid bits about Karl is that he recently spend 6 hours trying one trick! Karl definitely doesn’t have ADD.
So if you missed the Tuff Luv show a few weeks back, you will get another chance. The show is appearing at Interbike next week and coincidently right by the Sunday booth. The mag with the flies on it will be Sunday’s!
Lee Dennis made another trip to Home Depot and bought some more paint. This is probably Lee’s 5th paint job this year. He’s probably just getting ready for his trip down to North Carolina this weekend to film with Ian Schwartz and Steven Savage for the Sunday video.
Bits and Pieces!
Okay so it’s been a week or so since my last update, I’ve been busy with Interbike, the shop, filming and actually just riding without cameras nearby. Some team news first, Joe Cox spent four hours in the hospital due to a broken hand. He was doing a rail hop from a grind and it didn’t go quite as planned. He’ll be healed up in 2 weeks and off to Barcelona to film for the Sunday video a week later. Heal up quick Joe!
I’ve got a bunch of history photos that Jeff Z took on BMXonline. Scroll down and look for the From the Archives-Kink photos dated September 6th! The photo on the left is from 2001 of me fufanuing an 8ft dirty snow bank. Check out the article and see photos of Rob Tibbs, Chris Arriaga and Ryan Sher!
Check out Eric L‘s complete Sunday kit! If you’ve seen Left Right then you’ve seen Eric ride. Last montage section, he does a crankslides down a cement ledge, long pegless 5050 grinds and oh the crankslide on the rail with the terrible run up at UCI. Bike looks good, huh?
You can almost check out Steven Kennedy’s Sunday, but he is trying to eat it in this photo. Steven’s from San Diego and part of the Give D crew. They recently did a web video for Defgrip so check that out here!
Limited UK Sunday Frame Set!
What you are seeing is the UK inspired Sunday frameset, the same one in Karl Poynter’s bike check awhile back. The frameset will be available at all the distributors starting this week. What you aren’t seeing are the Triumph bars that complete the frameset, they went out
so quick that I couldn’t even get a photo! For this set we went only went with Triumph bars and Morning 2 forks, Night 2 Forks and the other bars will not be available in this color. We are offering this frame in 20.75″ top tube also!
Good news! Sunday’s Tuff Luv entry actually survived the heat and made it out to California. Pictured on the left, the mag doesn’t look that bad, I totally expected it to have missing melted sections. I’ve always seem to get myself in situations that are so close to not working. And this was definitely one of them for sure. Good to know it made it intact and for the rest of the story go check out Defgrip.
Tuff Luv weekend!
If you are in Los Angeles this Saturday, go to SLB and check out the Tuff Luv show. Here is a photo of Sunday’s entry being made, it chilling in the fridge and the ingredients the day after! It was like a sidewalk block of sugar, I dropped it many times, but it didn’t break. I only show you these pictures because I fear it not even making it there in its original form. What it is is a Tuff Wheel cover in candy apple coating. Represents my favorite color of a bike from the 80’s which is a candy apple red Hutch trickstar. Hope it makes it!
Randomness update!
Last time I updated, I was enjoying Berlin’s riding spots by day and pasta by night. I’m a huge tourist and history buff, so here is a few ‘sights’ that I saw while in Germany. This is Neptune’s fountain right by the TV Tower, if I’ve ever had a favorite fountain this would be it. Here is a close up of Neptune. Oh and this is really cool too!
Little short on space so here is my abbreviated tour of Berlin: Berlin Wall marker path, Berlin Wall itself, the Brandenburg Gate, Bebel Platz, the Spree River, the Reichstag and a new modern art gallery that wasn’t even in my guide book. All in all Berlin is an amazing city that really caught me by surprise, I can’t wait to go back. If you want some stickers tell me the importance of most of these places, send your replies here.
Now to the random team stuff, Lee Dennis sent me this photo of his bike with prespun brake cable. Christian Ziegler did this to his wheel on a e-brake gap gone wrong. Karl Poynter is on The Come Up trip. Mike Hoder has a freecoaster and is healthy again, but Mike Taylor still isn’t, getting close though. Kurt Rasmusson is riding in the 909! Ian Schwartz is working on his frame graphics which will be available early next spring. Vinnie Sammon is testing some new bars. Joe Cox is Mr. Popular because so many people have been looking for his email lately. Look for a products update tomorrow!
Team News!
Mike Taylor has been recovering from knee surgery and doing physical therapy. This is his x-ray which he shot with his camera phone. According to the doctor Mike will be back on his bike in 4 months. In the meantime, Mike needs your help. Go to the DCEurope site and vote for the Mike and the UK team!
Ian Schwartz and Steven Savage have been in California filming for the Sunday video expected late this fall or early winter. They’ve been in LA and San Diego for most of the trip. In other Ian news look for his frame sometime around when the video comes out.
Vinnie Sammon has been sick in New Jersey. I was out in NYC and didn’t even get a chance to see him because of it. His long awaited Skavenger video came out so look for that! Also, we’re potentially working on a Vinnie Bar, but we’re still figuring it out.
Karl Poynter was sweating and riding in Tallahassee, Florida last time I spoke with him. And Mike Hoder has been riding again after recovering from the 40 something stitches he received from a broken window a month ago. Hopefully all will be well with him
Kurt Rasmusson has a video top 5’s on BMXOnline. Stop by to see who and what made his cut.
Berlin plus more!
Well my world tour continues! Made it to Berlin after a really fun weekend in NYC. This photo is from the balcony of the place we are staying at and is the only place that we can poach internet from. My goal for the trip is to do a wall ride on the Berlin Wall or atleast what’s left of it. I’ll put the photo up hopefully later. Check out this view at night!
Joe Cox has been everywhere lately! Check out all his bike check, interview and how to on the Bmxonline site! Or just check some of the previous posts to see them. I know some of you were wondering about the follow up to his Voices video entitled Tomorrow We Work, it still being filmed and hopefully due out in late fall!
Long layover in NYC!
Well I was on my way to the Rebel Jam when my plane to Berlin decided to leave without me. Stuck in NYC, I called my old roommate, Dave for a place to stay. This was on Wednesday and I changed my flight to Berlin for Sunday. I’ve forgotten how New York can be so much fun from riding the subways, walking 40 blocks and seeing some of the craziest people ever.
First, all my friends from Buffalo are coming to town for the Back to the Banks Jam on Saturday, so it is like a reunion especially with all the ex patriots from Buffalo already here. I met them at the airport when I went back to pick up my bags. Check out who was waiting for their bags. One even left something behind!
To make a long story short, in one day I saw a skate video premiere, listened to the Beastie Boys play an outdoor live show in Green Point, meet Dustin Dollin, went to the Double Down NYC and saw so many good spots that I am definitely coming back. Hopefully the rain will stop today so I can meet up with Vinnie Sammon and do some riding!
