The Sunday 24″ Model C was introduced at last September’s Interbike to a mix of fanfare and uncertainty. The biggest controversy was its geometry with its much higher bottom bracket and shorter rear as compared to other 24″ cruisers available. It took a lot to explain the ideas behind it as you might have seen in the Model C video edit in March and there’s even an FAQ about the Model C. The goal was to make a 24″ BMX bike that could do all the tricks a 20″ could do. Before the Model C, cruisers were race orientated and the thought of doing tricks on it didn’t really exist. Others in the industry claimed that since they were “a former top cruiser racer” that the Model C wouldn’t work. They basically said we didn’t know what we were doing. Sorry to say, but we’ve been approved by riders through out the world and from companies like We the People and Fit who’ve adapted the Model C’s geometry for their cruiser completes. It has been a great year since the last Interbike and I know it will be another great year with the introduction of our complete Sunday Model C next spring. So, not only can you get a high end frame and fork that is required by a skilled rider, but you will also be able to get started on a 24″ without spending too much money. Check below for some photos of the Model C since last Interbike.

Chris Hilbrich ad!
Austin’s own Chris Hilbrich graced the July 2009 Model D Sunday ad in Ride BMX. Chris is almost fully recovered from the broken thumb he got a month ago. He cut his cast off last Sunday and is back at it. In the ad, he had supporting help from myself riding the Model C. These photos were taken on the first day the Model C’s were built up. Not too bad for the first day riding a cruiser!
Fantasy Factory!
Check out Greyboy and Truly Odd representing during filming of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory. There’s a whole episode is based around the Hercules sidehacks. I heard it has Mirra, Dyrdek, Grey, Truly and a bunch of the Odyssey guys in the episode. If you haven’t seen the Hercules Promo then check it out after the jump. The turn footage is the best!
Sun-Tang Forever!
James Brawn sent me a photo of his rawed Sunday frame with a Wu-Tang headtube badge! So psyched!
Fluorescent Yellow Funday!
Fluorescent Yellow Funday‘s have recently come available, so if you haven’t seen one in your local shop then have them give Sunday a call right away. If you don’t have a good local shop then call Empire BMX or Dan’s and they will be able to help you. In Canada, you will have to wait another week or so and the UK should have them now. These are will never be made again, so get it now!
Black Magic Model C and D!
Check out Ben Ward‘s Black Magic Model C built up with Black Magic 24umphs and Morning 24.1 forks. Wow! This looks so good! And with this being a 24″ frame with Black Magic then it weigh over a 1/4 lb less than a painted version. If you are looking for a Model C or our 20″ trail frame called the Model D in Black Magic then give Empire BMX a call. Or if you are a shop looking for one then give Sunday a call! Read more about Black Magic after the break.
Big Bike Little Place!
Here are two more photos of my Model C with green and gold colorway in action! The barspin between the van and the U-Haul isn’t that crazy, but 180ing between the two is much different. The photo of me holding the bike up to show how little room there was lost, but I’d say it was about an inch on either side. You can sort of tell from the photo that there wasn’t much room. Thanks to Zak Taylor for shooting these two photos. Look for more Model C stuff coming soon!
Sunday Ad?
Well not quite a Sunday ad, but Tony Resta sent me this creamsicle Wave frame ad that he made up. Jacob George is doing the tuck in the photo and Riley Drew shot it. It looks great to me! I like that he put the 41-Thermal logo in the word bubble too!
Stephen Savage Update!
Stephen Savage spent a month over here in the USA. We set him up with the blue Second Wave kit that he is riding in the photo. This replaces the original Second Wave prototype that he’s been riding since June of 2008. That might have been the most traveled Sunday frame out there. Either way Stephen’s back home in South Africa and he sent me this photo along with a description of the spot. Here is what he said,
“This spot is one of my favourite spots in Cape Town. You have to roll down this hill to a blind corner and as you carve to get to the back you have to hop a pavement. Its crazy and sketchy and if you fall on this back its like a cheese grater! But that’s what makes it so fun! There are always these little neighbourhood kids hanging around. Its chaos! I had to ask some lady to move her car so I could ride it and she was like “with pleasure”. Such a cool area, i love Cape Town!”
Stephen couldn’t have described it more perfect. The setup, the situation and everything else around it can make a spot and trick seem that much more amazing. This might be favorite update in awhile. Wayne Rieche shot this photo! Great photo!
