Jim’s New Bike!

Okay, I just got back from Interbike and had a moment to put my new bike together. I went with a blue 20.5 with brake mounts. I’m using an almost galvanized looking Morning 2.1 fork along with the same color Triumphs cut down to 26 inches. I’ve stepped up from the Tudor bars and went with the Triumph bars until Vinnie’s bar comes out. The video below shows how easy it is to put a Mid BB in a Sunday frame due to the post-weld machining of the bottom bracket that we’ve always done on our frames. As you can see it takes more time to set up the tool than it does to put the bb in.

Sunday! at Interbike! Part 2

Interbike was a success again this year, check me and Rob-o hanging out. I couldn’t be happier with how everything worked out. Minus the new Vinnie Bars that got stolen. Sort of funny I thought, so if you stole them write me anonymously about how you like them. Look for the new stuff available early next year and I’ll be posting frame stuff over the next few days.

Karl Poynter made it out to Interbike this year. He’s been a traveling man all year from the QBP trip earlier this year in Texas to countless trips down south. Did you know that on a recent trip to Philly, Karl spent 6 hours trying a trick? Talk about patience! Karl and his brother Kyle do a shop in New Castle, IN called Hardcore Sportz. They recently moved and set up a new website, so check that out here. I think you’ll like it.

Ian Schwartz is shown here doing an inadvertent bottom bracket installation seminar. He also was showing how to properly deconstruct a seat. Ian’s frame with welded on Pivotal Post was a huge hit at the show. It should be available sometime around Christmas or just afterwards. Moments after this photo was taken, Ian gave away his old prototype frame to a kid from Nevada. I’ll hopefully have a photo for you, but I wanted to tell you that he made the kids day. He went from a Specialized to a very limited Sunday frame. Not bad!

Kurt Rasmusson hanging out with his good friend Dakota Roche in this photo. Kurt was only able to make it out for one day of the show. He works pretty much full time making cabinets which makes his Left Right video part even more amazing. Look for more from Kurt and maybe a cabinet how to video sometime soon. Check out a funny photo of Kurt riding in Fullerton here.

Non-Interbike Update!

Here is some stuff that is not exactly Interbike related, but there is more to come to stay tuned! Alright one little bit if Interbike week news. Kurt was nominated for NORA cup Best Video Part of the year….and didn’t win. It was pretty funny, a lot of people in the crowd called, Conspiracy!

In other Kurt news he has an Autophoto on the Defgrip site. I don’t know where he finds time to be a photographer between graduating college, working full time and riding that bmx, but he is god at all of them!

Also on Defgrip is a little Fill in the Blanks with Give D member and Creamsicle Churro shredder Smilin’ Steve Kennedy. Check that out too!

Sunday! at Interbike!

Interbike was actually a lot of fun this year, shown above is the Sunday booth. It was made of different colored stained plywood. Really simple and it made for something unique especially since the other two ideas were already done. Below is the backside of the booth with the Sunday Tag Wall, well that’s atleast what it turned into. Check out all the Give D tags which had a ‘booth’ right behind Sunday. More Interbike updates later.

Whew, what a week!

It is late and we just made it to California after a week in Las Vegas for Interbike 2007. The week was great and so were the people. I have a lot to bring all of you but I still need to sort through the photos. Here is a video to keep your appetites fed of me explaining what we have coming up next. More soon!

Glad to hear you like the new site. Cursor around the page, there are lots of things to click on.

New Sunday! site!

Welcome to the launch of the new Sunday! Bikes website! The launch just so happens to coincide with Interbike 2007 which starts Wednesday in Las Vegas. If you’re coming out, look for Sunday’s very first booth somewhere in the BMX section.

I showed up early with Ian Schwartz and Karl Poynter coming in tomorrow. Vinnie Sammon tried to show up today, but he was actually a day early. He got already, drove to the airport and was told his flight wasn’t until tomorrow. What are you gonna do, right? Kurt Rasmusson is coming out on Wednesday, so there will be a good portion of the team at the show. Look for more updates from Interbike this week along with a whole bunch more this year.
take care,
jim

2007 NORA Cup Video Part Nominee!

That’s correct Kurt Rasmusson has been nominated for the NORA Cup Video Part of the Year for his very memorable section in Left/Right. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see that video yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. Congrats Kurt and good luck!

Sunday Warehouse video

Web videos seem like a dime a dozen these days. Mediocre videos, poor quality and poor filming are the norm on youtube and myspace, so why not here too. This is Sunday’s contribution to the world of videos and tricks that will be completely forgotten 10 minutes after you watch them. I’m a little jaded on the straight to web videos, I just long for the days of sitting in front of a tv rewinding a VCR tape over and over again. Look for more web footage soon, oh and maybe a real video too!

Oh I guess I should tell you what’s going on in this one. Ian Schwartz and Steven Savage were in town for a few days while Lee Dennis, Greg Henry and some other Canadians came down to ride the Sunday warehouse.

Quick update!

First things first, Karl Poynter has interview over on woozybmx. You can learn his middle name, see him jump way over a fire hydrant and be flipped off by his t-shirt, all in one interview! Some other tid bits about Karl is that he recently spend 6 hours trying one trick! Karl definitely doesn’t have ADD.

So if you missed the Tuff Luv show a few weeks back, you will get another chance. The show is appearing at Interbike next week and coincidently right by the Sunday booth. The mag with the flies on it will be Sunday’s!

Lee Dennis made another trip to Home Depot and bought some more paint. This is probably Lee’s 5th paint job this year. He’s probably just getting ready for his trip down to North Carolina this weekend to film with Ian Schwartz and Steven Savage for the Sunday video.

Bits and Pieces!

Okay so it’s been a week or so since my last update, I’ve been busy with Interbike, the shop, filming and actually just riding without cameras nearby. Some team news first, Joe Cox spent four hours in the hospital due to a broken hand. He was doing a rail hop from a grind and it didn’t go quite as planned. He’ll be healed up in 2 weeks and off to Barcelona to film for the Sunday video a week later. Heal up quick Joe!

I’ve got a bunch of history photos that Jeff Z took on BMXonline. Scroll down and look for the From the Archives-Kink photos dated September 6th! The photo on the left is from 2001 of me fufanuing an 8ft dirty snow bank. Check out the article and see photos of Rob Tibbs, Chris Arriaga and Ryan Sher!

Check out Eric L‘s complete Sunday kit! If you’ve seen Left Right then you’ve seen Eric ride. Last montage section, he does a crankslides down a cement ledge, long pegless 5050 grinds and oh the crankslide on the rail with the terrible run up at UCI. Bike looks good, huh?

You can almost check out Steven Kennedy’s Sunday, but he is trying to eat it in this photo. Steven’s from San Diego and part of the Give D crew. They recently did a web video for Defgrip so check that out here!

Triumph Bars!!!!

Triumph bars are completely back in stock! Black bars have been out for a bit, but now they are available. Also, the new limited edition green UK Triumph bars are available, click the photo to see an up close shot.

Limited UK Sunday Frame Set!

What you are seeing is the UK inspired Sunday frameset, the same one in Karl Poynter’s bike check awhile back. The frameset will be available at all the distributors starting this week. What you aren’t seeing are the Triumph bars that complete the frameset, they went out so quick that I couldn’t even get a photo! For this set we went only went with Triumph bars and Morning 2 forks, Night 2 Forks and the other bars will not be available in this color. We are offering this frame in 20.75″ top tube also!

Good news! Sunday’s Tuff Luv entry actually survived the heat and made it out to California. Pictured on the left, the mag doesn’t look that bad, I totally expected it to have missing melted sections. I’ve always seem to get myself in situations that are so close to not working. And this was definitely one of them for sure. Good to know it made it intact and for the rest of the story go check out Defgrip.
